Wait for 18 mustang. Miata is great for cornering and are a lot of fun. A great choice. However given your circumstances I would probably chose the Mustang. The new ones still handle really well but you also have the power for when you want straight line acceleration.Both the soft top and the RF have no issues heating the cabin. I have the soft top and it heats up just as fast as any other car. In terms of ride height I had no issues driving through 4-5 inches of snow. The Miata has a way better interior be it quality, fit/finish, and materials used. The styling to me is way better then the 86 including the interior controls. They are way intuitive and the tech is limited to the screen and manual controls are perfect.I think there is a reason they use them at Driving Schools. Also, and this may have changed, the power at the wheels on an RX-8 is not even close to the shaft horsepower. Now, there will be losses in the Miata as well, but you may be able to get more wheel HP on the miata with smaller engine mods.
